There’s a pretty serious amount of negative stigma attached to anything involving cannabis. This is unfortunate, because as research is pointing out, we humans can benefit from a number of chemicals found in the cannabis and hemp plants. One of the most exciting is CBD, which is short for Cannabidiol. CBD is non-psychoactive, meaning you will not get “high” from consuming it. Because our brains have a natural endocannabinoid system, we’re pre-wired for the chemical, and it has some pretty amazing effects.
From various studies, CBD has been shown to be:
Additionally, a 2014 Stanford study of 19 sets of parents (who were using CBD enriched cannabis to treat their children’s epileptic seizures) found that 86 percent reported a reduction in their child’s seizures. Of these, 42 percent reported an 80 percent reduction in seizure frequency, 32 percent reported a 25-60 percent reduction in frequency, and 11 percent reported a complete cessation of seizures. Another study found that of 23 patients taking Epidiolex, a 98 percent CBD extract, 39 percent had more than a 50 percent reduction in seizures.

As a personal aside, I've found CBD to be immensely helpful as a sleep aid. I usually tell people I sleep "like a sack of bricks" after taking 1 pill of CBD. I don't do this every night, but if my sleep cycle gets a little out of whack I won't hesitate to push the reset button by taking some CBD.
This stuff, (the bottle shown above) is what I usually take to reset my sleep cycle, but I know a number of people who use it as a general pain-killer, and one fellow who takes advantage of its anti-anxiety properties.
